The Ultrasonography Department at Jaslok Hospital is one of the first standalone dedicated Ultrasound departments in the country, established under the leadership of Dr Mukund Joshi in the year 1984. Over the years, this department has evolved, acquiring and using the latest technologies available in each era and currently uses state of the art technology equipped ultrasound machines. The sonography department has earned many ‘Firsts’ to its credit including and not limited to being amongst one of the first setups in the country to start performing Elastography scans for grading liver fibrosis and currently expanded to its other applications including breast , thyroid, prostate and gynecology for early detection of tumors. Most importantly it is the patient centric approach this department offers, from facilitating timely scans, empathetic consultants who solve patient queries to accurate and time sensitive diagnostic report dispatch process, that places it into a unique position and our patients’ love, feedback and testimonials reinforce our dedication to do even better. A wide variety of services are offered in the department including Routine ultrasound scans for Abdomen & Pelvis, Gynaecological sonography, Fetal sonography, Small parts sonography including Thyroid, scrotum, Breast etc, Whole range of Doppler ultrasounds from head to toe, musculoskeletal imaging & Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) . The Department also runs one of the only dedicated setups for ultrasound guided interventional procedures in the city where a large number of ultrasound guided interventional procedures are performed for diagnostic as well as therapeutic purposes including and not limited to body fluid aspirations, biopsies, catheter placement and drainage, advanced Fetal interventional procedures , liver tumor ablations, and pain management procedures. Diagnostic procedures include ultrasound guided biopsies, FNAC, Fetal interventions like Amniocentesis , chorionic villus sampling etc. Therapeutic interventions include various ultrasound guided injections,pain management procedures, Fetal procedures including intrauterine blood transfusions and embryo reductions etc.
