The department provides pre-operative care to all patients undergoing surgical procedures through a dedicated pre-anaesthetic check-up clinic. Patients are directed to this check-up through their consultants, and then the experienced team of doctors of the Department of Anaesthesia aids them through the entire process. 

The anaesthesia services provided by the department include assistance in all surgical specialities such as general surgery, orthopaedic, joint replacement, cancer (surgical oncology), cardiothoracic, urology, kidney transplant, liver, advanced laparoscopy, neurosurgery, advanced neurosurgery (DBS), robotics, bariatric, plastic & reconstructive surgeries, obstetric & gynaecological with labour analgesia, paediatric, ENT and ophthalmic surgeries.

However, the scope of anaesthesiology goes beyond surgical procedures. The Department of Anaesthesia also provides services for non-surgical procedures like cath lab, DSA, MRI suit, focussed MRI, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, pain clinic and pre-anaesthetic clinic. It also provides assistance to daycare and short-stay procedures like endoscopy and infertility (IVF) in state-of-the-art operation suites.

One of the key roles played by the department is in the care of critical patients in the ICU and the management of acute and chronic pain. The services of the department in this area usually include pain management and management of painful syndromes through monitoring, restoring and maintaining haemostasis, and evaluating and applying respiratory therapy.
