The department has a Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) / Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) laboratory for testing genetic disorders.
Fertility Treatment and Services
The department provides treatment for ovulatory disorders and other endocrine problems that cause infertility. Endoscopic procedures and surgical management of infertility are carried out routinely in the department. These include operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.

Genetics Laboratory and Genetic Testing
The Genetics Laboratory has automated karyotyping workstations for chromosome analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and equipment for molecular genetic tests such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Prenatal, postnatal and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is carried out routinely in the laboratory. The department also has next-generation sequencing (NGS) facilities and array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH).
Genetic tests include:
- Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) for hereditary genetic conditions
- Preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) by the FISH technique for the detection of aneuploidies
- Y chromosome microdeletion testing, including partial deletions
- FISH testing on various samples for conditions ranging from infertility to leukaemia
