Introduction:

Dr Rushi Deshpande is currently working as Director of Nephrology at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai. He joined Jaslok Hospital in 2006, prior to that he has trained for DM and DNB in Nephrology and for three years of training as a clinical fellow in Nephrology and one year of fellowship in Kidney Transplantation accredited to American Society of transplantation.
He started his journey in Nephrology in 1998 and has been awarded gold medal in DNB Nephrology award by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam president of India in 2003. He has been a pioneer in developing extended criteria living  kidney transplantation with excellent results. He is also involved in across the blood group barrier ( blood group incompatible) kidney transplantation since 2008. He has been a DNB guide for Nephrology at Jaslok for more than 10 years.

He has served at Tata Memorial Hospital to develop the field of Onco Nephrology in India. He has also served pro bono as chairperson for ZTCC Zonal  Transplant coordination committee to develop and further the cause of deceased donor transplantation in Maharashtra. Dr Rushi Deshpande is also involved in training for Peritoneal Dialysis. He was trained by none other than Dr Oreopoulos the father of peritoneal Dialysis in Toronto, Canada & He is a founder trustee of Beena health and kidney foundation, which serves the cause of furthering, education, and management of kidney diseases amongst the medical fraternity and the general population.
