The Ultrasound department of the Jaslok Hospital & Research center is a state - of - art the department equipped with latest colour Doppler machines to take care of large volume of work involving all the other departments of the hospital. It is managed by an experienced and dedicated team of doctors and is one of leading Ultrasound departments in the country.

Machines

Our department is proud to be the only centre in Asia to have acquired Siemens ACUSON S 2000^TM Machine with ABVS technology. It has state-of-the-art design and real time imaging technologies that provide excellent image quality and diagnostic confidence, especially in breast and liver imaging.

The department has the latest equipments available including a Philips HDI 5000 with Sono CT & X Res. This machine has extreme resolution & several probes for different applications and is capable of 3 dimensional studies as well.

The department has a total of 6 high end colour Doppler machines including one used for portable ultrasound.

Place and Ambience

It is centrally located convienent to both out-door and indoor patients and spread over a large area.

Each machine room offers total privacy for the patient & a changing room.

Time

The department works continuously from 8.00am to 6.00pm and is available for emergency work round the clock with consultants being available.

Advances in Breast Imaging

Automated breast volume scanning (ABVS) technology provides standardized, reproducible bilateral whole breast imaging with 3 D capability and is an important tool in screening diagnosis and follow- up care of breast cancer especially in women with dense breast tissue.

Elastography of breast when used as an adjunct to conventional B mode and colour doppler imaging, improves diagnostic accuracy, determines the true tumour infiltration and helps to focus biopsies. Elastography has a potential to exclude malignancy with a possible safe reduction of benign biopsy rates.

Advances in Liver Imaging

Acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) imaging provides a new dimension of diagnostic information that enables very quick and non-invasive staging of liver fibrosis and screening of liver transplant donors.

Interventional Ultrasound

Probably the largest number of interventional procedures ( like biopsies and aspiration) done in the city, which often avoids major surgeries.

The procedures are done in a well equipped room with facilities for monitoring patient during the procedure.

Intra-operative Ultrasound

Different probes for different intra operative work are available. This is extremely useful to the surgeons and is a unique facility.

Portable Ultrasound

High end colour Doppler machine is available for portable ultrasound to serve the sick patients at their bed side.
