This underlying thought pervades our department of Plastic surgery, an important arm of the surgical services whose skills are sought by the other departments at one time or the other. Being a horizontal specialty it gets selectively involved in almost every part of the body.

The department is well-equipped for an effective functioning. The instrumentation available includes powered instruments for cutting bone and skin, operating microscopes, an access to Co2 laser and equipment for Aesthetic Surgery.

The department has excellent relationship with other specialties in areas of work needing team effort. Thus for the management of cranial deformities of infancy, there exists an excellent collaboration with Neurosurgery, Pediatrics and the Pediatric Intensive Care Units.

The department’s rich interaction with the Dept. of Orthopaedics often makes a significant contribution to the management of acute trauma

The excellent collaboration with the very active oncosurgery service of our hospital enriches the quality of repair. By restoration of near normal appearance and function enriches the quality of a cancer patient’s life.

The well-equipped department of diagnostic radiology is a great help in the study of craniofacial malformations and vascular malformations (a large number of which have been successfully managed in this department).

Not to be left behind in the academy field the department runs an instructional course for postgraduates students in the field of Plastic Surgery in our city.
