 ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
 

 

 The Department was established 30 years ago by Padmabhushan Prof. Dr. R. D. Lele. This was a pioneer department of Nuclear Medicine in private hospital in the country.

The Department is a recognized training center for DNB (Nuclear Medicine) examination of the National Board of Examination. 1 candidate is taken every year for training. Over 20 candidates have successfully passed out so far.

The Department provides state of the art diagnostic and therapeutic facilities.
 

Diagnostic scans : (Planar and SPECT on Gamma camera)
  • Brain scan (cerebral perfusion).
  • Dacryoscintigraphy
  • Thyroid and parathyroid scan
  • Salivary scintigraphy
  • Myocardial perfusion scan and MUGA scans
  • Lung ventilation - perfusion scans
  • Gastric emptying scans, gastrointestinal bleed scans, liver and hepatobiliary scans
  • Renal scans, testicular scans
  • Bone scans, Bone marrow scans
  • Lymphoscintigraphy
  • Octreotide scans for Neuroendocrine tumours
  • Blood volume and RBC mass estimation
  • Infection imaging with Tc - Ciprofloxacin and Gallium scans
  • Dopamine Transporter Imaging 99mTc TRODAT
 
PET - CT scans
  1. Whole body PET - CT scans for diagnosis, staging detecting recurrence and monitoring response to therapy in various malignancies and detection focus in pyrexia of unknown origin.
  2. FDG PET scans for myocardial viability.
  3. FDG PET scan of brain for diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, temporal lobe epilepsy, brain tumors.
  4. 68Ga- DOTATOC PET-CT for Neuroendocrine tumours ( Carcinoid, Insulinoma, Gastrinomas etc.)
 
Therapeutic facilities
The Department is the only one in the city of Mumbai in private sector to offer therapy for cancer of thyroid with high dose radioiodine. A special isolation ward is available.
 
Therapy for thyrotoxicosis is also regularly given
  • Radiolabelled therapy for hepatoma and hepatic metastases.
  • Radiation synovectomy for painful joints.
  • Radio labelled therapy for painful bone metastases.
 
Equipment Available
 

The Department has state of the art equipment

  1. Dual head ECAM - DUET Siemens Gamma Camera with 1 INCH crystal for planar, SPECT and coincidence imaging.
  2. Dual head GE Millennium MG Gamma camera for planar and SPECT.
  3. Dedicated GE STE 16 PET - CT whole body scanner for high quality 16 slice PET - CT.
