Surg  RAdm(retd) S K Mohanty is the Dean of the Institution and Heads the Medical services of the Hospital. He is responsible for the overall patients care and is responsible for induction of consultants in various specialities. As the Dean he is responsible for all the Post Graduate and PostDoctoral  training Programme of the Institution. Jaslok College of Nursing  comes under his administrative control. All research projects,drug trials and PhD programme of the hospital are being monitored and controlled by him. He controls and monitors all academic activities of the hospital including Teleconferencing with Stanford University of USA. He is the Chair Person for most of the committees of the hospital and DyChair person for Hospital Transplant authorisation committee and Ethics committee.

He is a General and Laparoscopic surgeon and practices as a consultant in the hospital. He also takespart in all teaching and academic activities of the hospital.

Admiral  Mohanty is a retired Flag officer of Indian Navy(defence). He has put in 36 years of active service in Navy and Army. During the long service he has served various medical Institutions of the Armed Forces as surgeon, teacher and administrator. Notable among them are as the faculty member of the department of Surgery at Armed Forces Medical College Pune and last one being Head of the biggest Naval Hospital INHS Asvini at Mumbai as a Flag Officer.He retired from active service on super anuation before joining Jaslok Hospital. During his 36 years of services he has taken part in various wars and operations notable among them KARGIL WAR where he treated 1300 war casualties as the Chief Surgeon at the Forward Armed forces hospital. He also took part in V Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica in 1985. He went to England to bring the second Aircraft carrier of the country INS Viraat. For his distinguished services he was awarded VISIST SEVA MEDAL and SENA MEDAL by the President of India. He also received commendation from the Chief of the Naval staff and was the first recipient of the SurgRAdm H L Bhatia memorial Silver medal for the best managed cardiac emergrncies.

With his multifaceted experience and expertise Admiral  Mohanty has suited himself well in Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre and has completed more than three years as Medical Director.
